The equipment allows to synchronize the two nodes of the free-space quantum-optical link between the Marconi and Fermi buildings of the Department of Physics, and to compensate for atmospheric turbolences which induce wavefront distorsions. It consists of two main items described below:

(1) Equipment for the correction of wavefront aberrations. It is composed by a deformable lens (16mm aperture) with 18 actuators controlled by a 32 channels HV amplifier  and a wavefront analyzer for the real time analysis and correction of the light beam wavefront shape.

(2) Diode laser module for the emission of picosecond pulses with emission wavelength at 520 nm. The repetition rate of the laser can be changed in a range between 31.25kHz up to 80MHz with 12 steps. Continuos wave operation is also possible. The laser can be operated with an external trigger and in burst mode.
