Vision based modeling of plants phenotyping in vertical farming under artificial lighting

In this paper, we present a novel method for vision based plants phenotyping in indoor vertical farming under artificial lighting. The method combines 3D plants modeling and deep segmentation of the higher leaves, during a period of 25–30 days, related to their growth. The novelty of our approach is in providing 3D reconstruction, leaf segmentation, geometric surface modeling, and deep network estimation for weight prediction to effectively measure plant growth, under three relevant phenotype features: height, weight and leaf area.

State-of-the-art imaging techniques in the management of preoperative staging and re-staging of prostate cancer

We aimed to review the current state-of-the-art imaging methods used for primary and secondary staging of prostate cancer, mainly focusing on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging and positron-emission tomography/computed tomography with new radiotracers.

Nanotechnology in oral cavity carcinoma: recent trends and treatment opportunities

Oral cavity carcinoma (OCC) remains an ongoing public health problem. Emerging nanotechnology provides alternative treatment approaches. This review covers the up-to-date literature in the human OCC treatment field. We explored the growing body of evidence to reveal novel and highly promising diagnostic and therapeutic applications of nanotechnology in this field. Various types of nanoparticles have been tested for applications in OCC. Imaging modalities in addition to nanocarriers are discussed.

Sonographically estimated risks of malignancy for thyroid nodules computed with five standard classification systems. Changes over time and their relation to malignancy

Over 50% of newly diagnosed thyroid nodules are either cytologically benign or presumed to be benign on the basis of low-suspicion sonographic findings. The strategies used for their long-term surveillance are based mainly on the estimated residual risk of malignancy calculated with various ultrasonographic classification systems (e.g., Thyroid Image Reporting and Data Systems [TIRADS]).

99mTc-HYNIC-IL-2 scintigraphy to detect acute rejection in lung transplantation patients: a proof-of-concept study

Rationale: Acute allograft rejection is one of the major complications after lung transplantation, and adequate and early recognition is important. Till now, the reference standard to detect acute rejection is the histopathological grading of transbronchial biopsies (TBBs). Acute rejection is characterised by high levels of activated T lymphocytes. Interleukin-2 (IL-2) binds specifically to high-affinity IL-2 receptors expressed on the cell membrane of activated T lymphocytes.

Joint EANM/ESNR and ESCMID-endorsed consensus document for the diagnosis of spine infection (spondylodiscitis) in adults

Purpose: Diagnosis of spondylodiscitis (SD) may be challenging due to the nonspecific clinical and laboratory findings and the need to perform various diagnostic tests including serologic, imaging, and microbiological examinations. Homogeneous management of SD diagnosis through international, multidisciplinary guidance would improve the sensitivity of diagnosis and lead to better patient outcome.

Diabetic Foot Infections. The Diagnostic Challenges

Diabetic foot infections (DFIs) are severe complications of long-standing diabetes, and they represent a diagnostic challenge, since the differentiation between osteomyelitis (OM), soft tissue infection (STI), and Charcot's osteoarthropathy is very difficult to achieve. Nevertheless, such differential diagnosis is mandatory in order to plan the most appropriate treatment for the patient.
