The agricultural areas of the Mezzogiorno, a landscape heritage man-built since ancient times, are losing their traditional vocation. Many of the farm buildings built and expanded with the incentives of the Cassa del Mezzogiorno (National Agency for the Southern Italy), have been transformed into farms, resorts, exclusive and mass accommodation facilities, thus defining the change of vocation of many beautiful post-rural Italian places. But several observers tell us that tourism alone is not enough, as agriculture has not been sufficient for decades. Attracting the high-tech industry and start-ups with concessions (tax, visa, etc.) and localizing them in the Southern Italy campaign (open trade zone).
