Treatment of Stage I-III Periodontitis -The EFP S3 Level Clinical Practice Guideline

The recently introduced 2017 World Workshop classification of periodontitis, incorporating stages and grades of disease, aims to link disease classification with approaches to prevention and treatment, as it not only describes disease severity and extent, but also the degree of complexity and an individual`s risk. There is, therefore, a need for evidence-based clinical guidelines providing recommendations to treat periodontitis.

Use of photobiomodulation induced by polarized polychromatic non-coherent light in the management of adult chronic periodontitis.

Background. Polarized polychromatic noncoherent light is used in medicine for the treatment of a wide range of medical conditions. Its effect of activator and modulator of biological processes can be a valid adjunctive therapy in the treatment of periodontitis. Materials and methods. Forty adult patients affected by chronic periodontitis were included in our study and randomly divided in two groups. Test group received low level light application in addiction to traditional mechanical periodontal therapy, while control group received only full mouth scaling and root planing. Results.
