architectural survey

BIM for built cultural heritage: semantic segmentation, architectural stratification and LOD of the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Florence.

The 3D virtual modeling of any artifact involves the organized composition of digital elements. This process is common to any 3D modeling workflow but, when applied to BIM systems, shows a good correspondence in the construction processes between the virtual and the real world. In fact, any building can be considered as a coordinated set of simple technological elements, linked together by design logics and construction techniques that are quite predictable and controllable.

Unexpected outcrops of "heritage" in historical contexts. The house-shack of poet Valentino Zeichen in Rome

The paper focuses on the “house-shack” of Valentino Zeichen (1938-2016), a very famous poet of the roman and Italian cultural scene.
Located in the very heart of Borghetto Flaminio, inside the “cultural” axis of Flaminia Street, the house-shack is a micro-place with a high poetic density deeply in contrast with its architectural and formal inconsistency.

Digital Model, Acquisition And Processing. The New Technologies For Architectural Survey

The new procedure of the architectural survey sets the "numerical model" or "model made by points" as central structure. This structure is able to describe precisely the architectural object in its own morphology. From the numerical model we can process the "mesh model" or "surface model", which produces a careful description of the skin of the architecture; this last model can be subsequently textured by color images.
