Fascia lata harvesting: the donor site closure morbidity

Fascia lata (FL) is a worldwide adopted source of autologous grafts. In our Department, the endoscopic endonasal transphenoidal surgery (EETS) has been performed regularly for anterior and middle cranial fossa lesions, and FL graft has commonly been a practical resource in repairing tissue defects after EETS.Enough, we used routinely harvesting FL to restore symmetry in facial palsy. To our known, this is the biggest case series about FL harvesting to repare tissue defects after EET.

Validation of the objective assessment of facial movement with a new software-based system

Background: Most used subjective Unilateral Peripheral Facial Palsy (UPFP) grading systems are characterized by high variability and low reproducibility and doesn’t allow a separate evaluation of single facial regions.
Objective: To assess the reliability of a new objective method for classification of UPFP, comparing it with House-Brackmann (HB) and Sunnybrook facial grading (SFGS) systems.

Clinical and radiological findings of facial paralysis in multiple sclerosis

Background: Diagnosis of central or peripheral facial palsy (FP) is traditionally based on clinical evaluation. This study aims at investigating the relationship between clinical evaluation of FP and lesion location as visible on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for the purpose of adding supporting evidence to the diagnosis of central or peripheral FP in these patients.
