Politics and gender issues: at the crossroads of sexism in language and attitudes. An overview of some Italian studies

We present the principal findings of a research program, developed across the previous eight years, focused on politics and gender issues in Italy. The theoretical perspective is that of social representations (SRs) that disputes the transparency of language, affirming its capacity to mask power and ideological relations. We assume that gender is not a stable and immutable construct within each individual, but rather a performative construct related to fluid and mutable aspects built in the interactions between social actors.

Identità e agency nelle narrazioni di cura

L’articolo analizza le narrazioni prodotte all’interno di un gruppo di supporto per familiari e pazienti oncologici condotto con il dispositivo dello psicodramma analitico. Sulla base di report osservativi degli incontri, viene descritto come tale ‘supporto’ si configuri e venga realizzato nel dispiegarsi sequenziale delle narrazioni prodotte dai membri del gruppo e dal conduttore. L’analisi ha rilevato la struttura narrativa polifonica del dispositivo evidenziando come le narrazioni del conduttore segnino dei passaggi, dei punti di svolta nella sequenza narrativa.

Unfolding female quiet in wargames. Gender bias in Metal Gear Solid V. The Phantom Pain from representation to gameplay

This article investigates the cultural mediatization of the relationship between gender and war by looking at the representation and agency of female presence in one of the most popular sagas in video games: Metal Gear Solid. We have specifically focused on the last chapter of the series, Metal Gear Solid V (MGS5) by putting under scrutiny the character of Quiet. The analysis draws upon the rich theoretical corpus of feminist film studies, with reference to two main concepts: the “visual pleasure” by Laura Mulvey and the “female voice” by Kaja Silverman.

(De)Constructing Bridges for Development and Innovation: Intercultural Concerns Regarding ICT4D

The purpose of this paper is to offer some critical comments about the collected
articles, by introducing a point of view inspired by cultural psychology concerning
information and communication technologies for development (ICT4D) research
issues. This conception of ICTs highlights three fundamental aspects: the role of
artifacts in mediating action that are culturally meaningful; the agency of people,
and thus their responsibility as social actors; and the need for highly contextualized
