Emotion regulation and alcohol abuse in second-generation immigrant adolescents: The protective role of cognitive reappraisal

The individual predictors of drinking behaviors among second-generation immigrant adolescents are still understudied. This study investigated emotion regulation strategies and alcohol abuse in 472 adolescents (86 second-generation immigrants and 386 Italian natives; age range: 17–18). The Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and the Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test were used to assess cognitive reappraisal, emotional suppression, and alcohol abuse, respectively. Immigrants reported lower alcohol abuse than natives.

The multidisciplinary support in preventing alcohol relapse after liver transplantation: a single centre experience

Abstract Background and aim: Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) represents a frequent indication for liver transplantation (LT). Since 2004, we have adopted a program of multidisciplinary support(MS) to assist patients undergoing LT for ALD. We aimed at analyzingthe relapse rate and the risk factors for relapse. The relapse rate was also compared with that of a historical group of patients who underwent transplantation. Their survival rate was also analyzed.Patients and methods: Consecutive patients with ALD transplanted from 2004 were included.

Brain Network Underlying Executive Functions in Gambling and Alcohol Use Disorders: An Activation Likelihood Estimation Meta-Analysis of fMRI Studies

Background: Neuroimaging and neuropsychological studies have suggested that common features characterize both Gambling Disorder (GD) and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), but these conditions have rarely been compared. Methods: We provide evidence for the similarities and differences between GD and AUD in neural correlates of executive functions by performing an activation likelihood estimation meta-analysis of 34 functional magnetic resonance imaging studies involving executive function processes in individuals diagnosed with GD and AUD and healthy controls (HC).
