Detailed modelling of biomass steam gasification in a dual fluidized bed gasifier with temperature variation

The modelling of biomass gasification enables the optimization of the process designs, but it is a challenge due to its high complexity. Here a model for prediction of the performance of a 100-kW dual bed fluidized biomass gasifier is derived and implemented in the ASPEN plus environment. Detailed pyrolysis modelling is properly addressed, and this is believed to be a key factor of this approach and enables more accurate results.

Analysis of a micro-CHP system consisting of steam injected gas turbine fed by syngas and integrated with bottoming Organic Rankine Cycle

Integration of energy systems is an effective strategy to achieve higher efficiency and to reduce the emissions in power systems, which has been studied by many researchers for different applications and system configurations. Steam Injected micro Gas Turbine (SImGT) coupled to bottoming Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) can be a way to achieve higher efficiency and to reduce the emissions in small-scale biomass power plants.

Gasification treatment of poplar biomass produced in a contaminated area restored using plant assisted bioremediation

Remediation of polluted soils using phytoremediation techniques is an effective strategy. However, the use of the biomass from these soils for energy purposes may raise efficiency and pollution emission problems and there is currently little research on this issue. In this work, the main results of a fluidized-bed gasification treatment conducted on poplar biomass pruning residues from a multi-contaminated area are presented.
