CT texture-based radiomics analysis of carotid arteries identifies vulnerable patients: a preliminary outcome study

Purpose: To assess the potential role of computed tomography (CT) texture analysis (CTTA) in identifying vulnerable patients with carotid artery atherosclerosis. Methods: In this case-control pilot study, 12 patients with carotid atherosclerosis and a subsequent history of transient ischemic attack or stroke were age and sex matched with 12 control cases with asymptomatic carotid atherosclerosis (follow-up time 103.58 ± 9.2 months). CTTA was performed using a commercially available research software package (TexRAD) by an operator blinded to clinical data.

Carotid artery aneurysm in HIV. A review of case reports in literature

Abstract 19 Background : 20 HIV infection may affect cardiovascular system through different physio pathological patterns 21 including viral vasculitis, thrombophilia induction, opportunistic infection, major HIV vasculo- 22 tropic coinfections and secondary effects of antiretroviral therapy. Vessel pathology may 23 manifest as obstructive disease, dissection or aneurysm conditions that may involve major , 24 medium or small vessels, in different arterial branches.

Multiparametric ultrasound evaluation with CEUS and shear wave elastography for carotid plaque risk stratification

Purpose To assess the diagnostic effectiveness of Multiparametric ultrasound (MPUS), which includes color Doppler ultrasound (CDUS), CEUS and Shear wave elastography (SWE), for evaluating carotid plaque as compared with CT-angiography (CTA) and histology.
Materials and methods Forty-three consecutive patients scheduled to undergo carotid endarterectomy underwent MPUS.
