Together with the analysis and classification of “full words” and “empty words” as well as parts of speech, classifiers have always represented one of the main focuses of analyses carried out by foreign missionaries and scholars in grammar and teaching materials compiled for studying Chinese. In this article, I will briefly describe and analyse the lexicographical contribution to the history of the Chinese language provided by different foreign scholars.
In this article, I briefly describe and analyse the lexicographical contribution to the history of the Chinese language provided by different foreign scholars of late Qing China. The article focuses on the classification and description of classifiers expressed in some lexicographical works, specifically grammatical and miscellaneous texts edited between the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
Portable Document Format, more commonly known as PDF, has become, in the last 20 years, a standard for document exchange and dissemination due its portable nature and widespread adoption. The flexibility and power of this format are not only leveraged by benign users, but from hackers as well who have been working to exploit various types of vulnerabilities, overcome security restrictions, and then transform the PDF format in one among the leading malicious code spread vectors.
