Human cardiac progenitor cells (CPCs) offer great promises to cardiac cell therapy for heart failure. Many in vivo studies have shown their therapeutic benefits, paving the way for clinical translation. The 3D model of cardiospheres (CSs) represents a unique niche-like in vitro microenvironment, which includes CPCs and supporting cells. CSs have been shown to form through a process mediated by epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT).

The Use of a novel porcine derived acellular dermal matrix (mucoderm) in peri-implant soft tissue augmentation: Preliminary results of a prospective pilot cohort study

Objective. Over the years, several techniques have been proposed for soft tissue augmentation around dental implants in order to improve keratinized mucosa width (KMW). Recently, a porcine derived acellular dermal matrix (Mucoderm) has been proposed as autogenous graft substitute in order to avoid palatal harvesting and obtain comparable results to connective tissue grafts, in terms of aesthetics and function. Biocompatible and degradable poly(?-hydroxy acids) are one of the most widely used materials in scaffolds for tissue engineering. Nevertheless, they often need surface modification to improve interaction with cells. Aminolysis is a common method to increase the polymer hydrophilicity and to introduce surface functional groups, able to covalently link or absorb, through electrostatic interaction, bioactive molecules or macromolecules. For this purpose, multi-functional amines, such as diethylenediamine or hexamethylenediamine are used.
