Genetic influence on femoral plaque and its relationship with carotid plaque: an international twin study

To disentangle genetic and environmental influences on the development of femoral plaques using a population of adult twins. To evaluate the potential role of shared genetic and environmental factors in the co-occurrence of femoral and carotid plaques. The sample included 566 twins belonging to 164 monozygotic (MZ) and 119 dizygotic (DZ) twin pairs, who underwent peripheral arterial assessment by B-mode ultrasound in different centers. The variance in femoral plaques onset was due to genetic factors and the remaining 50% was explained by common (15%) and unique (35%) environmental factors.

The influence of dental occlusion on spectrophotometric tooth color determinations

Background: Shade matching is a significant treatment step and a challenge for the clinical team with potentially high costs for color correction. Currently, in the United States, the majority of private dental practitioners use visual color matching, but a recent study has reported a high rate of mistakes of subjective color determination among graduate dentists. Objective: The aim of this retrospective study is to analyze whether a change in the oral background due to dental occlusion can influence tooth color determination.

ASK-based spatial multiplexing RGB scheme using symbol-dependent self-interference for detection

We propose a vsible light communication scheme utilizing red, green and blue lightemitting diodes (LEDs) and three color-Tuned photodiodes. Amplitude shift keying modulation is considered, and its effect on light emission in terms of flickering, dimming, and color rendering is discussed. The presence of interference at each photodiode generated by the other two colors is used to improve detection since interference is symbol-dependent.

Metameric MIMO-OOK transmission scheme using multiple RGB LEDs

In this work, we propose a novel visible light communication (VLC) scheme utilizing multiple di erent red green and blue triplets each with a di erent emission spectrum of red, green and blue for mitigating the e ect of interference due to di erent colors using spatial multiplexing. On-o keying modulation is considered and its e ect on light emission in terms of flickering, dimming and color rendering is discussed so as to demonstrate how metameric properties have been considered.
