Current status of distal embolization in femoropopliteal endovascular interventions

The application of advanced endovascular techniques in very complex femoropopliteal atherosclerotic lesions has shown to expose patients to a higher risk of distal embolization (DE). This complication can affect both the short- and long-term outcomes, leading to worsening ischemia, early minor/major amputation, and longer hospital stay. Recently, there has been an increasing body of evidence on pathophysiology and clinical–radiological management of DE that however has not been systematically addressed by guidelines.

Outcome and technical consideration of conversion total hip arthroplasty after failed fixation of intracapsular and extracapsular hip fractures: are they really that different?

Introduction: Conversion Total Hip Arthroplasty (cTHA) is a rescue strategy for proximal femur osteosynthesis failures. However, it is unclear whether cTHAs performed for extra-capsular fracture fixation failures (ECF) or for intra-capsular fracture fixation failures (ICF) share the same complexity and efficacy. The purpose of our study was to compare cTHAs performed on pre-existing ICFs and pre-existing ECFs, focusing on surgical complications and functional outcomes in both groups.

Myoma and myomectomy. poor evidence concern in pregnancy.

AIM:
Summarize the results of the many, but often underpowered, studies on pregnancy complicated by myoma or myomectomy.
METHODS:
Survey of the electronic PubMed database for the last two decades was conducted. We selected reviews, meta-analyses, case series, case reports, clinical studies only with statistical analysis, and guidelines from scientific societies.
RESULTS:

Outcome of long-term complications after permanent metallic left bronchial stenting in children

OBJECTIVES: We describe the way we treated 7 children with critical long-term complications after metallic balloon-expandable stenting in the left mainstem bronchus. METHODS: Endoscopic follow-up included a first bronchoscopy 3 weeks after stenting, then monthly for 3 months, every 4-6 months up to 1 year and at scheduled times to calibrate stent diameter up to final calibration. When major complications occurred, patients underwent chest computed tomographic angiography. RESULTS: In 1 of the 7 children (median age 2.8 years), metallic left bronchial stenting served as a bridge to surgery.
