Data analysis of heating systems for buildings - A tool for energy planning, policies and systems simulation

Heating and cooling in buildings is a central aspect for adopting energy efficiency measures and implementing local policies for energy planning. The knowledge of features and performance of those existing systems is fundamental to conceiving realistic energy savings strategies. Thanks to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) development and energy regulations’ progress, the amount of data able to be collected and processed allows detailed analyses on entire regions or even countries.

Digital Libraries: The Era of Big Data and Data Science - 16th Italian Research Conference on Digital Libraries, {IRCDL} 2020, Bari, Italy, January 30-31, 2020, Proceedings

Since 2005, the Italian Research Conference on Digital Libraries has served as an important national forum focused on digital libraries and associated technical, practical, and social issues. IRCDL encompasses the many meanings of the term “digital libraries”, including new forms of information institutions; operational information systems with all manner of digital content; new means of selecting, collecting, organizing, and distributing digital content; and theoretical models of information media, including document genres and electronic publishing.

Texel-Att: representing and classifying element-based textures by attributes

Element-based textures are a kind of texture formed by nameable elements, the
texels [1], distributed according to specific statistical distributions; it is
of primary importance in many sectors, namely textile, fashion and interior
design industry. State-of-theart texture descriptors fail to properly
characterize element-based texture, so we present Texel-Att to fill this gap.
Texel-Att is the first fine-grained, attribute-based representation and
classification framework for element-based textures. It first individuates

Trajectories of Women in Mathematics and Computer Science: Mobility, Positioning and Hybridization

This paper focuses on the trajectories of women within educational and professional paths in science and technology. The paper draws on the narratives of women working in scientific careers in order to open the black box of the fields under analysis – mathematics and computer science – and trace their current reconfigurations.
Empirically, the focus on the trajectories of women constitutes an analytical lens whereby to detect the internal articulation of mathematics
