The guatemalan construction characterizaton of the perceived risk by managers of suffering work accidents

The construction industry is considered one of the highest risk production sectors, even more so in developing countries such as Guatemala. A characterization has been carried out on the perception of Guatemalan construction company managers regarding, the risk of accidents exist for the different activities they perform. The characterization has been carried out on a representative sample of the business population via a questionnaire. A preliminary data analysis was performed followed by a Descriptive and a Multiple Correspondence Analysis.

The number of accidents and victims in the construction sector has not decreased significantly despite the increasingly stricter laws and regulations. The analysis of accidents, as well as their root causes and determinants can certainly contribute to the development of more effective preventive interventions.

The theme of tranformation of school buildings is circumscribed whitin the specific building features of a specific era, the period betwenn the two wars, and which the most significant case studies for research have been identified. The case studies represent emblematic conditions for the disposal of small-medium urban portions for which a transformative action is urgently needed.
