Data breaches have been one of the most common source of concerns related to cybersecurity in the last few years for many organizations. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe, strongly impacted this scenario, as organizations operating with EU citizens now have to comply with strict data protection rules.
Recent technologies for low-rate, long-range transmission in unlicensed sub-GHz frequency bands enables the realization of Long-range Wide Area Network. Despite the rapid uptake of LPWANs, security concerns arising from the open architecture and usage of the unlicensed band are also growing. While the current LPWAN deployments include basic techniques to deal with end-to-end encryption there are specific security issues that arise due to the overall architecture and protocol layer design.

This paper describes the first edition of the Human-Centered Cybersecurity workshop, held in conjunction with CHItaly 2019. Cyber attacks have been increasing in the recent years. Although users have been identified as one of the major security weaknesses in today's technologies, many cyber-attack preventions focus on systems and technology without addressing user-related issues. The workshop aims at attracting researchers and practitioners whose research addresses human related topics of cybersecurity. This paper also reports a brief description of the accepted contributions.
The intensive use of the online space if, on the one hand, has generated extensive benefits, on the other it has exposed
the society to malicious behaviours, causing a global expansion of computer-based criminal activities. In this respect,
the aim of this chapter is twofold. First, it explores the economic costs and benefits faced by private firms in the context
of their investments in cybersecurity and personal data security activities. Second, it analyses how the recent legislative
