Tertiary cytoreductive surgery in recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer: a multicentre MITO retrospective study

Objectives. To evaluate the impact of tertiary cytoreductive surgery (TCS) on survival in recurrent epithelial
ovarian cancer (EOC), and to determine predictors of complete cytoreduction.
Methods. A multi-institutional retrospective study was conducted within theMITO Group on a 5-year observation
period.
Results. A total of 103 EOC patients with a ?6 month treatment-free interval (TFI) undergoing TCS were included.
Complete cytoreduction was achieved in 71 patients (68.9%), with severe post-operative complications

Surgical treatment of intraperitoneal metastases from lung cancer. Two case reports and a review of the literature

Peritoneal metastases are often reported in several abdominal tumors. Peritoneal diffusion from extra-abdominal tumors is thought to be rare. Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world with early metastases and it is associated with poor prognosis in advanced stages. Peritoneal metastases from lung cancer are uncommon and the real mechanism of its diffusion to the peritoneum is unknown. However, its clinical behavior is similar to any other peritoneal metastasis from abdominal tumors.

Prognostic factors influencing infectious complications after cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC. Results from a tertiary referral center

Background. Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy
(HIPEC) showed promising results in selected patients. High morbidity restrains its wide
application. The aim of this study was to report postoperative infectious complications and
investigate possible correlations with preoperative nutritional status and other prognostic factors in
patients with peritoneal metastases treated with CRS and HIPEC.
Methods. For the study we reviewed the clinical records of all patients with peritoneal metastases
