Background: The effect of gene polymorphisms and promoter methylation, associated with maladaptive developmental outcomes, vary depending on environmental factors (e.g., parental psychopathology). Most studies have focused on 0- to 5-year-old children, adolescents, or adults, whereas there is dearth of research on school-age youths and pre-adolescents.

The dorsal striatum coordinates input-output processing of numerous functions including those related to motor activity, motivation, and learning. Considerable anatomical and biochemical heterogeneity across striatal subregions has long been known to result in distinct functional outcomes, and for imbalances in these pathways to contribute to many complex disorders.

Dark data. Some methodological issues in finance

The nature of the data of financial systems raises several theoretical and methodological issues, which not only impact finance, but have also philosophical and methodological implications, viz. on the very notion of data. In this paper I will examine several features of financial data, especially stock markets data: these features pose serious challenges to the interpretation and employment of stock markets data, weakening the ‘myth of data’. In particular I will focus on two issues: (1) the way data are produced and shared, and (2) the way data are processed.

Dopamine–mediated immunomodulation affects choroid plexus function

Immune system alterations have been implicated in various dopamine-related disorders, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). How immunity might be influenced by dopaminergic dysfunction and impact on clinically-relevant behaviors is still uncertain. We performed a peripheral and cerebral immunophenotyping in mice bearing dopaminergic alteration produced by genetic liability (hypofunction of the dopamine transporter DAT) and psychostimulant (amphetamine) administration.
