Clinical and radiographic outcomes of a surgical reconstructive approach in the treatment of peri-implantitis lesions: a 5-year prospective case series

OBJECTIVES:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the 5-year clinical and radiographic outcomes following reconstructive therapy of peri-implantitis lesions using mineralized dehydrated bone allograft and resorbable membrane in the nonsubmerged mode of wound healing.

Clinical comparison of a xenogeneic collagen matrix versus subepithelial autogenous connective tissue graft for augmentation of soft tissue around implants

Dental implant placement is a predictable therapy for replacing teeth. Nevertheless, mechanical, biological, and aesthetic complications frequently occur. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of a xenogeneic collagen matrix (XCM) used at the time of implant placement as an alternative to a subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG), for soft tissue augmentation. This was a prospective clinical trial with 12 months of follow-up.

Intrasinus bone gain with the osteotome sinus floor elevation technique: a review of the literature

Purpose: To evaluate the mean amount of intrasinus bone obtainable with the osteotome technique for transcrestal maxillary sinus elevation combined with simultaneous implant insertion, with and without the use of grafting materials. Materials and Methods: A review was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane central databases. Only human studies in which implant placement was contextual to the sinus elevation procedure, without additional crestal regenerative procedures and with a minimum 1-year followup, were selected. Seventeen studies were found to meet the selection criteria.

Is there a learning curve in static computer-assisted implant surgery? A prospective clinical study

Static computer-assisted surgery (s-CAS) has been introduced to improve the results of implantology. A prospective cohort study was conducted following the STROBE guidelines to determine the presence of a learning curve in s-CAS. Six partially and six totally edentulous patients were treated by two surgeons experienced in implantology but completely inexperienced in s-CAS. Preoperative and postoperative computed tomography scans were matched to assess coronal, apical, and angular deviation and the positioning error. The accuracy data were used to evaluate the learning curve.

Head and neck osteosarcoma—the ongoing challenge about reconstruction and dental rehabilitation

Head and Neck osteosarcoma is an uncommon disease. Hitherto, the treatment is surgical resection and survival is influenced by the presence of free margins. Are intraoral radiographs reliable in determining peri-implant marginal bone level changes? The correlation between open surgical measurements and peri-apical radiographs

This study was performed to evaluate the reliability of peri-apical
radiographs in determining peri-implant marginal bone level changes. The
STROBE guidelines were followed. Marginal bone levels were measured at the
time of implant insertion using a straight periodontal probe and using peri-apical
radiographs. These intraoperative and radiographic measurements were repeated at

Abstract: Dental implants are one of the most commonly used ways to replace missing teeth. Nevertheless, the close contact with hard and soft oral tissues expose these devices to infectious peri-implant diseases. To prevent such infection, several surface treatments have been developed in the last few years to improve the antimicrobial properties of titanium dental implants. In this in- vitro pilot study, the antimicrobial activity of titanium surfaces coated with different types of graphene nanoplatelets are investigated.
