Diodoro Siculo

A proposito del Mar Morto in Strabone (XVI 2, 41-4). Il bitume il galleggiamento dei corpi e la distruzione di Sodoma

The aim of the article is to analyze the section of Strabo’s Geography on the Dead Sea by comparing it with the other texts that talk about it and try to identify the main lines of tradition. The method used does not aim to identify one or more sources and to establish the relationships that connect them, using the Quellenforschung technique, but to grasp recurring themes and information. In this way at least three lines of tradition can be identified for the extension of the Dead Sea and two for geographic and ethnographic data.
