Migraine headache is the cause of an estimated 250,000,000 lost days from work or school every year and is often associated with decreased work productivity. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to assess the relationship between perceived disability, job satisfaction and work productivity in patients affected by chronic migraineurs. Participants were 98 consecutive adult outpatients admitted to the Regional Referral Headache Centre of the Sant’Andrea Hospital in Rome, Italy.

We focus on the relationship between liquidity and market efficiency, and investigate the behavior of three stock market indexes (S&P500, Nasdaq and DAX) before, during and after the global financial crisis. We find that, once accounted for the scale, the two attributes are strongly related and empirical evidence is provided that, when market efficiency is measured through the pointwise regularity of the price, it is a better forecaster of illiquidity than vice versa.

The departures from market efficiency are used to provide evidence of overreaction and underreaction in two main stock indexes. Specifically, using the notion of alfa-efficiency, we document the presence of stochastic dominance in the conditional distributions of mean log-price variations.

The software available to implement and carry out efficiency analysis is crucial for the diffusion of efficiency frontier techniques among applied researchers and policy makers. The implementation of up‐to‐date productivity and efficiency analysis is indeed important to advance our knowledge in many fields, ranging from the public and regulated sectors to the private ones. This contribution fills a gap in the existing literature and surveys the currently available options to estimate a variety of frontier methodologies using either general or dedicated programs.

This paper aims at being a comprehensive reference for stakeholders, policy makers, and scholars interested in analyzing the problem of efficiency, effectiveness, and impacts of rail transport systems in a sound empirical way, paying specific attention to passenger transport services. The paper combines different analytical frameworks (engineering, economics, impacts), systematic review techniques, and advanced mappings. Framing economic efficiency studies into a transport planning perspective permits to move from efficiency to effectiveness issues.
