High-grade T1 on re-transurethral resection after initial high-grade T1 confers worse oncological outcomes. Results of a multi-institutional study

Introduction: The aim of this multicenter study was to investigate the prognostic impact of residual T1 high-grade (HG)/G3 tumors at re-transurethral resection (TUR of bladder tumor) in a large multi-institutional cohort of patients with primary T1 HG/G3 bladder cancer (BC). Patients and Methods: The study period was from January 2002 to-December 2012. A total of 1,046 patients with primary T1 HG/G3 and who had non-muscle invasive BC (NMIBC) on re-TUR followed by adjuvant intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) therapy with maintenance were included.

Contraception during Coronavirus-Covid 19 pandemia. Recommendations of the board of the Italian Society of Contraception

Purpose: The Italian Society of Contraception identified as one of its priorities the need to give recommendations on management of contraception during Coronavirus-Covid 19 pandemia Materials and methods: A concise communication was produced which summarises in an easy-to-read format suitable for clinicians the management of the different contraceptives mostly used. Information how to manage contraception in different conditions is presented. Results: Women may, in general, continue to use either intrauterine and or hormonal contraceptives.

Thymomatous myasthenia gravis. novel association with HLA DQB1*05:01 and strengthened evidence of high clinical and serological severity

Background: The relative prevalence of myasthenia gravis (MG) subtypes is changing, and their differential features and association with HLA class II alleles are not completely understood. Methods: Age at onset, presence/absence of autoantibodies (Ab) and thymoma were retrospectively considered in 230 adult Italian patients. Clinical severity, assessed by MGFA scale, and the highest Ab titer were recorded. Furthermore, we performed low/high resolution typing of HLA-DRB1 and HLA-DQB1 alleles to detect associations of these loci with MG subtypes.

Src nuclear localization and its prognostic relevance in human osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma is the most common malignant bone tumor in children and young adults.
The identification of proteins which exhibit different subcellular localization in low- versus
high-risk osteosarcoma can be instrumental to obtain prognostic information and to
develop innovative therapeutic strategies. Beside the well-characterized membrane and
cytoplasmic localization of Src protein, this study evaluated the prognostic relevance of its
so-far unknown nuclear compartmentalization. We analyzed the subcellular distribution

The influence of generalized anxiety disorder on executive functions in children with ADHD

The present study was aimed at verifying whether the presence of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) affects executive functions in children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Two groups of children with ADHD were selected for the study according to the presence or absence of GAD. The first group of 28 children with ADHD with GAD (mean age: 9 ± 1.2; males/females: 24/4) was matched for gender, age, IQ, psychiatric comorbidity with a second group of 29 children with ADHD without GAD (mean age: 8.8 ± 0.7; males/females: 26/3).

Plasma tau correlates with basal forebrain atrophy rates in people at risk for Alzheimer diseas

ObjectiveTo investigate whether baseline concentrations of plasma total tau (t-Tau) and neurofilament light (NfL) chain proteins are associated with annual percent change (APC) of the basal forebrain cholinergic system (BFCS) in cognitively intact older adults at risk for Alzheimer disease (AD).MethodsThis was a large-scale study of 276 cognitively intact older adults from the monocentric INSIGHT-preAD (Investigation of Alzheimer's Predictors in Subjective Memory Complainers) cohort.

A relational capital perspective on social sustainability. The case of female entrepreneurship in Italy

Purpose: Female entrepreneurship has been part of the political agenda internationally. Public entities should promote entrepreneurship in general, and female entrepreneurship in particular, with dedicated resources and programs. Female entrepreneurs are considered as a key asset in developing economic growth. However, women experience much more difficulties in opening their own ventures. Relational capital is particularly relevant when it comes to female entrepreneurship.
