Seven excavation campaigns at Abu Tbeirah

Since 2012 seven excavation campaigns have been carried out at Abu Tbeirah, a 3rd mill. BC city located near Nasiriyah. The paper will present the results of the interdisciplinary researches carried out in these years and the discoveries in the excavated areas, that are shedding new light on the life of a 3rd mill. BC southern Mesopotamian city. Moreover, the preliminary results of the 2017 excavation of Abu Tbeirah harbor, a huge artificial basin surrounded by a rampart and linked to the main canal crossing the Tell, will be presented as well.

Pyrgi, harbour and sanctuary of Caere. Landscape, urbanistic planning and architectural features

The overall investigation of the different districts of an Etruscan settlement is an extremely rare circumstance. The study of the urbanistic asset of Pyrgi's settlement and of the arrangement of the sacred areas is favoured by their abandonment after the phase of Romanization and by the possibility of performing large-scale research over its territory.

Today, coastal cities worldwide are facing major changes resulting from climate change and anthropogenic forcing, which requires adaptation and mitigation strategies to be established. In this context, sedimentological archives in many Mediterranean cities record a multi-millennial history of environmental dynamics and human adaptation, revealing a long-lasting resilience. Founded by the Phoenicians around 3000 years ago, Cádiz (south-western Spain) is a key example of a coastal resilient city.
