The association between hyperacusis and developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders has been extensively reported in the literature; however, the specific prevalence of hyperacusis in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has never been investigated. In this preliminary study, we evaluated the presence of hyperacusis in a small sample of children affected by ADHD compared to a control group of healthy children. Thirty normal hearing children with a diagnosis of ADHD and 30 children matched for sex and age were enrolled in the study.

Revision stapes surgery is generally proposed in case of insufficient
hearing gain and inner ear complications (vertigo, sensorineural
hearing loss) after primary surgery.1 However, it is reported to be
less effective, from a functional point of view, than primary surgery.
2 As a consequence, the decision to perform revision surgery
should be properly balanced. The causes of hearing failure and
inner ear complications should be carefully evaluated preoperatively
so as to give revision surgery a higher chance of success. The aims

Aim: to investigate the effect of chronic noise exposure on vestibular function of subjects without clinical evidence of vestibular disorders and with documented cochlear damage from noise.
Subjects and methods: 25 patients with chronic noise- induced hearing loss (NIHL) and without vestibular complaints (group A) and 25 matched controls with sensorineural hearing loss without noise exposure (group B), underwent audiological and vestibular test including caloric and cervical vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials tests (cVEMPs).

Acoustic Neuromas (AN) are benign tumors of the vestibulocochlear nerve with symptomatology that includes unilateral sensorineural hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, facial and/or trigeminal neuropathy. There are different treatment options of AN: watchful waiting, microsurgical resection, stereotactic radiation and the choice depends by many variables such age, health and hearing of patients as size, location and growing status of tumor.

In this letter, we discuss possible alternatives and future perspectives in the therapy of Meniere’s disease.

In this article I focus on the soundscapes that emerge from Sumerian literary texts. In the introduction, I deal with the terminology and relevance of hearing in Sumerian culture and sensory model. I then discuss the relationship between hearing and knowledge, the power of the word, and the sensorial dimension in cosmogonies.
