The intratumor heterogeneity represents one of the most difficult challenges for the development of effective therapies to treat pediatric glioblastoma (pGBM) and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). These brain tumors are composed of heterogeneous cell subpopulations that coexist and cooperate to build a functional network responsible for their aggressive phenotype. Understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms sustaining such network will be crucial for the identification of new therapeutic strategies.

Quality of Life in Patients with Neuroendocrine Neoplasms: The Role of Severity, Clinical Heterogeneity and Resilience

Context: Although health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is a fundamental outcome in oncological clinical trials, its evaluation in the neuroendocrine neoplasm (NEN) research field is still limited.
Objectives: This study assessed the role of clinical severity (i.e., presence or absence of metastasis and lines of therapies) and heterogeneity (i.e., primary site, types of therapy, biology and surgery) of NEN in relation to HRQoL, as well as resilience as a moderator between clinical severity and HRQoL.
Design: Cross-sectional multicentric study.

Heterogeneity in risk aversion and risk sharing regressions

Heterogeneity in risk attitudes, if not properly accounted for, may induce a bias on the income coefficient of standard consumption insurance regressions. We show that, extending the theoretical analysis and empirical findings in Schulhofer-Wohl (Journal of Political Economy, 2011, 119, 925–958), the sign of the bias is ambiguous, and depends on cycle-related variables and on the covariances of both aggregate and idiosyncratic risk with individual risk aversion.

Characterizing the heterogeneity of European higher education institutions combining cluster and efficiency analyses

The heterogeneity of the Higher Education (HE) Institutions is one of the main critical issues to address properly the assessment of systemic performance. We adopt a multi-level perspective by combining national (macro) and institution (micro) level data and analyses. We combine clustering and efficiency analysis to characterize the heterogeneity of HE systems (at the national level) exploiting micro level data. We show also the potential of using micro level data to characterize national level performance.

Characteristics of a nationwide cohort of patients presenting with Isolated Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism (IHH)

IHH is a rare disorder with pubertal delay, normal (normoosmic-IHH, nIHH) or defective sense of smell (Kallmann syndrome, KS). Other reproductive and non-reproductive anomalies might be present altough information on their frequency are scanty, particularly according to the age of presentation.
