Higgs physics

Combined measurements of Higgs boson production and decay using up to 80 fb-1 of proton-proton collision data at √s =13 TeV collected with the ATLAS experiment

Combined measurements of Higgs boson production cross sections and branching fractions are presented. The combination is based on the analyses of the Higgs boson decay modes H → γγ, ZZ∗, WW∗, τ τ, bb, μ μ, searches for decays into invisible final states, and on measurements of off-shell Higgs boson production. Up to 79.8 fb-1 of proton-proton collision data collected at √ = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector are used. Results are presented for the gluon-gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion processes, and for associated production with vector bosons or top-quarks.

Search for the HH → bb¯ bb¯ process via vector-boson fusion production using proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

A search for Higgs boson pair production via vector-boson fusion (VBF) in the bb¯ bb¯ final state is carried out with the ATLAS experiment using 126 fb−1 of proton- proton collision data delivered at s = 13 TeV by the Large Hadron Collider. This search is sensitive to VBF production of additional heavy bosons that may decay into Higgs boson pairs, and in a non-resonant topology it can constrain the quartic coupling between the Higgs bosons and vector bosons.

Search for a dimuon resonance in the ϒ mass region

A search is performed for a spin-0 boson, ϕ, produced in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, using prompt ϕ → μ+μ− decays and a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 3.0 fb−1 collected with the LHCb detector. No evidence is found for a signal in the mass range from 5.5 to 15 GeV. Upper limits are placed on the product of the production cross-section and the branching fraction into the dimuon final state.

Search for resonances in the mass spectrum of muon pairs produced in association with b quark jets in proton-proton collisions at √s=8 and 13 TeV

A search for resonances in the mass range 12–70 GeV produced in association with a b quark jet and a second jet, and decaying to a muon pair, is reported. The analysis is based on data from proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC and corresponding to integrated luminosities of 19.7 and 35.9 fb−1, respectively. The search is carried out in two mutually exclusive event categories.

Enlarging the scope of resonant di-Higgs searches: hunting for Higgs-to-Higgs cascades in 4b final states at the LHC and future colliders

We extend the coverage of resonant di-Higgs searches in the bbbb final state to the process pp ! H1 ! H2H2 ! bbbb, where both H1;2 are spin-0 states beyond the Standard Model. Such a process constitutes a joint discovery mode for the new states H1 and H2. We present the first sensitivity study of this channel, using public LHC data to validate our analysis. We also provide a first estimate of the sensitivity of the search for the HL-LHC and future facilities like the HE-LHC and FCC-hh.

Measurement of VH, H -> b(b)over-bar production as a function of the vector-boson transverse momentum in 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

Cross-sections of associated production of a Higgs boson decaying into bottomquark pairs and an electroweak gauge boson, W or Z, decaying into leptons are measured as a function of the gauge boson transverse momentum. The measurements are performed in kinematic fiducial volumes defined in the simplified template cross-section' framework. The results are obtained using 79.8 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV.
