Multifacial recognition in binary and ternary cocrystals from 5-halouracil and aminoazine derivatives

A systematic analysis using single crystal X-ray diffraction was performed to explore the role exerted by potential intercomponent proton-transfer reactions in the supramolecular structures of A–B cocrystals formed by 5-haloderivatives of uracil (A), coupled with 2-aminoadenine simulants (aminoazines, B). Twelve new heterodimers were synthesized in different stoichiometries and cocrystallized by solvent cogrinding followed by solution crystallization.

Synthesis and characterization of 3-(1-((3,4-dihydroxyphenethyl)amino)ethylidene)-chroman-2,4-dione as a potential antitumor agent

The newly synthesized coumarin derivative with dopamine, 3-(1-((3,4-dihydroxyphenethyl)amino)ethylidene)-chroman-2,4-dione, was completely structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. It was shown that several types of hydrogen bonds are present, which additionally stabilize the structure. The compound was tested in vitro against different cell lines, healthy human keratinocyte HaCaT, cervical squamous cell carcinoma SiHa, breast carcinoma MCF7, and hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2.

Structural features of cholinium based protic ionic liquids through molecular dynamics

An analysis of the complex proton transfer processes in certain protic ionic liquids, based on amino acid anions, has been carried out through ab initio molecular dynamics in the view of finding naturally conductive and pure mediums. The systems analyzed here might serve as chemical prototypes for pure and dry ionic liquids where mobile protons can act as fast charge carriers. We have exploited the natural tendency of these liquids to form a complex network of hydrogen bonds.

Spectroscopic fingerprints of intermolecular H-bonding interactions in carbon nitride model compounds

The effect of intermolecular H-bonding interactions on the local electronic structure of N-containing functional groups (amino group and pyridine-like N) that are characteristic of polymeric carbon nitride materials p-CN(H), a new class of metal-free organophotocatalysts, was investigated. Specifically, the melamine molecule, a building block of p-CN(H), was characterized by X-ray photoelectron (XPS) and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. The molecule was studied as a noninteracting system in the gas phase and in the solid state within a H-bonded network.

Predictable selectivity in remote C-H oxidation of steroids: analysis of substrate binding mode

Predictability is a key requirement to encompass late-stage C-H functionalization in synthetic routes. However, prediction (and control) of reaction selectivity is usually challenging, especially for complex substrate structures and elusive transformations such as remote C(sp3 )-H oxidation, as it requires distinguishing a specific C-H bond from many others with similar reactivity.
