Promoting social competence and preventing aggression in primary school: an intervention based on social information processing

Social Information Processing interventions (Li et al.,2013) promote children Social Problem Solving (SPS) competence and
social skills. Our aim is to test the effectiveness of a SPS training in an Italian context.
Participants were 105 children (41 girls, mean age =8,7) who attended six classes in the same school. Project lasted two years.
Three classes were assigned to Group1 (N=61), and three classes to Group2. Both groups were tested at T1 (beginning 3rd Class),

Improving the ability to write persuasive texts in a boy with autism spectrum disorder: Outcomes of an intervention

In this paper, we describe an intervention implemented to assist a 13.2-year-old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder, G, without intellectual disability, aimed at improving his ability to compose persuasive texts. There was an initial assessment (baseline), an intermediate assessment after two weeks, a six-session intervention phase, and a post-intervention assessment. Our intervention applied two procedures.

Attachment patterns in subjects diagnosed with a substance use disorder: a comparison of patients in outpatient treatment and patients in therapeutic communities

The purpose of the present study is to analyze the quality of attachment in substance abuse patients in outpatient treatment vs. patients in therapeutic communities in order to identify the role of attachment insecurity in choosing a care system. The sample consisted of 127 subjects (107 males and 20 females); 97 were outpatients (83 males) and 30 therapeutic community patients (24 males). Attachment with respect to current, significant relationships was assessed using the Relationship Questionnaire.

Housing and health. An overview

Living environment, and especially dwellings, affect directly and indirectly health in several ways end represent one of the key social determinants of health. The relationship between health and housing has long been recognized and, in the last decades, researchers developed several conceptual models to put in relation the numerous housing factors able to impact on inhabitants' health.

Evaluating intervention programs with a pretest-posttest design. A structural equation modeling approach

A common situation in the evaluation of intervention programs is the researcher's possibility to rely on two waves of data only (i.e., pretest and posttest), which profoundly impacts on his/her choice about the possible statistical analyses to be conducted. Indeed, the evaluation of intervention programs based on a pretest-posttest design has been usually carried out by using classic statistical tests, such as family-wise ANOVA analyses, which are strongly limited by exclusively analyzing the intervention effects at the group level.

Discretional Intervention (Article 62, Statute of the Court)

The purpose of this chapter is to assess intervention under Article 62 of the Statute of the International Court of Justice through the analysis of some leading cases that have involved Latin American states. These cases represent a major contribution to the clarification of some controversial aspects of intervention and provide us with a unique perspective with which to evaluate the way in which the Court has balanced the protection of the interests of third states with that of the rights of the parties.

A vitamin D, calcium and leucine-enriched whey protein nutritional supplement improves measures of bone health in sarcopenic non-malnourished older adults: The PROVIDE study

Alterations in musculoskeletal health with advanced age contribute to sarcopenia and decline in bone mineral density (BMD) and bone strength. This decline may be modifiable via dietary supplementation. To test the hypothesis that a specific oral nutritional supplement can result in improvements in measures of bone health.
