Transition of care in patients with anorectal malformation. Consensus by the ARM-net consortium

Objectives To develop the first consensus to standardize the management of patients with Anorectal Malformations (ARMs) transitioning from childhood to adulthood. Methods A dedicated task force of experts performed an extensive literature review and multiple meetings to define the most important aspects of transition of care. The findings were discussed with all ARM-net consortium members and a set of practical recommendations agreed upon at the annual meeting in 2016. Result We defined seven domains that are essential to provide an effective and practical transition process.

Expected and observed glomerular filtration rates in kidney transplant patients converted to once daily tacrolimus: 10 years of follow-up

The decline of allograft kidney function in the long term remains a significant issue in renal transplantation, with drug nephrotoxicity and cardiovascular complications as important risk factors. Our study aimed to evaluate the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) trend and metabolic cardiovascular risk factors over 10 years in a cohort of kidney transplant (KT) recipients converted from twice-daily (TD) tacrolimus (Tac) to once-daily (OD)-Tac. We enrolled 55 consecutive KT recipients who had been at the outpatient clinic between 2009 and 2011.

Combined Oral Contraception and Bicalutamide in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Severe Hirsutism - a Double-blind RTC

Context: Hirsutism often occurs in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The efficacy of oral contraceptive pill (OCP) plus antiandrogens in the treatment of its severe expression is controversial due to the lack of randomized, double-blind, long-term studies. Objective: The primary outcome was the reduction of hirsutism in PCOS women objectively measured by videodermoscopy on the androgen-sensitive skin areas assessed by the modified Ferriman and Gallwey (mF&G) total score, after 12 months of therapy with OCP + bicalutamide (BC) vs OCP plus placebo (P).
