numismatica

Arabic coins from the Italian royal collection. Addenda to the Corpus nummorum italicorum. A preview

The Corpus Nummorum Italicorum project was officially announced in 1897, and the first volume published in 1910. A total of 20 volumes were printed until 1943 – the last one being never released. But the original plan was not followed, volume 18 (for example) being dedicated to the minor mints of South Italy rather than to Sicilian mints. And the project was never completed, with (for example) the entries on Sicily and the Levant remaining unpublished.

My encounter with Arabic numismatics and some new thoughts on Rasulid coins
