DVB-T based Forward Scatter Radar for Small Target Surveillance

This paper investigates the target detection capability of a Passive Forward Scatter Radar (PFSR) exploiting a DVB-T transmitter as illuminator of opportunity. Specifically, it is shown that conventional processing schemes adopted in PFSR might suffer from significant performance degradation when dealing with OFDM waveforms of opportunity compared to the case of FM radio broadcast. In fact, a non-negligible increase of the disturbance background is observed in the final spectrogram, which yields an undesired masking effect on weak target echoes.

On Interference Aware Power Adjustment and Scheduling in Femtocell Networks

Densely-deployed femtocell networks are used to enhance wireless coverage in public spaces such as office buildings, subways, and academic buildings. These networks can increase user throughput, but edge users can suffer from co-channel interference and service outages. This paper introduces a distributed algorithm for network configuration, called Radius Reduction and Scheduling (RRS), to improve the performance and fairness of the network.

Dual Polarization Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmission

We experimentally demonstrate dual-polarization nonlinear frequency division multiplexing (NFDM) using the continuous spectrum in 1680 km of normal dispersion fiber, at the net data rate of 25.6 Gb/s. NFDM exhibits a gain of 0.4 dB in $Q$ -factor and 1 dB in total launch power when compared with burst mode OFDM. DGD penalties are shown to be negligible in NFDM transmission.
