Value creation and contestability: findings from italian market

Abstract The idea of this research starts from the debate about the efficiency of the Italian capital market. In an increasingly globalized context, where Italian companies have to compete not only among themselves but also with foreign forces, the inefficiency of the capital market could be a fundamental discriminant. This paper aims to analyze the contestability in the Italian market. As it is known, it has some peculiarities. If compared with the other market, the Italian one is strongly characterized by the presence of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), most of them family-run.

Biomechanical characterization of the junzuki karate punch: indexes of performance

The aims of this study were: (i) to determine kinematic, kinetic, and electromyographic characteristics of Junzuki karate punch in professional karate athletes; (ii) to identify biomechanical parameters that correlate with punch force and lead to a higher punching performance; (iii) to verify the presence of muscle co-activation in the upper limb, trunk, and lower limb muscles. Data were collected from nine experienced karatekas from the Accademia Italiana Karate e Arti Marziali during the execution of the specific punch.

Bilateral 5?Hz transcranial alternating current stimulation on fronto-temporal areas modulates resting-state EEG

Rhythmic non-invasive brain stimulations are promising tools to modulate brain activity by entraining neural oscillations in specific cortical networks. The aim of the study was to assess the possibility to influence the neural circuits of the wake-sleep transition in awake subjects via a bilateral transcranial alternating current stimulation at 5 Hz (theta-tACS) on fronto-temporal areas. 25 healthy volunteers participated in two within-subject sessions (theta-tACS and sham), one week apart and in counterbalanced order.

Job insecurity and performance. The mediating role of organizational identification

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to extend knowledge about theoretical explanations of the job insecurity-performance relationship. Specifically, the authors examine how and why job insecurity is negatively associated with task and contextual performance (i.e. organizational citizenship behavior) and whether organizational identification may account for these relationships. Design/methodology/approach – The mediational hypotheses were examined using structural equation modeling in a heterogeneous sample of Italian employees.

Measuring universal health coverage based on an index of effective coverage of health services in 204 countries and territories, 1990–2019: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019

Background: Achieving universal health coverage (UHC) involves all people receiving the health services they need, of high quality, without experiencing financial hardship. Making progress towards UHC is a policy priority for both countries and global institutions, as highlighted by the agenda of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and WHO's Thirteenth General Programme of Work (GPW13).

Cold LED lighting affects visual but not acoustic vigilance

Previous studies demonstrated that both light intensity and spectral composition of light impact on brain functioning and regulate circadian rhythms. Further, several studies have shown that light exposure, especially blue light (about 460 nm), has positive effects on alertness, vigilance, mood, also increasing mental performance and work productivity. Unfortunately, results have not been always consistent.

Global value chains, innovation and performance. Firm-level evidence from the Great Recession

This article takes advantage of a newly available survey on the Italian industry to analyze the behavior of global value chains (GVCs) in the aftermath of the Great Recession. We design a comprehensive taxonomy of GVC participation modes and explore their impact on firms' innovativeness and performance. Our findings highlight relevant heterogeneities in how GVC participants fared the crisis.

Knowledge transfer in the football industry: a sectorial analysis of factors and determinants

Purpose – Over recent decades, knowledge transfer processes and knowledge-intensive organizations have
been increasingly investigated from several perspectives. Knowledge translation activated by knowledgeintensive
organizations is supported by several factors, among which intangible assets play a significant role.
Our research mainly investigates the relationship between the knowledge owned by knowledge workers in
source organizations and the process of its translation to recipient organizations. Specifically, this paper aims

From output to outcome measures in the public sector: a structured literature review

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to perform an analysis of the current literature providing a deep
contribution to understanding the paradigm shift from output to outcome measures in the public sector. Thus,
the main aim is to provide relevant insights of both theoretical and empirical studies, offering a critique of the
schemes and the research methods used and underlining future research opportunities for the compelling (or
underestimated) contents and new emerging trends.
