Oral health in the population held at the third district house of rebibbia

BACKGROUND: The Third District House is a weakened
custodial institution that houses drug addicts who want to
participate in a recovery and rehabilitation program. The aim
of the study is to evaluate the state of oral health of prisoners
and the impact it has on the quality of life, bearing in mind that
the problems related to the oral cavity are the most frequent
among those associated with drug abuse.
METHODS: Three different questionnaires were used, administered in a face to face interview mode: EGOHID II - Full

Introduction: Population ageing: convergences and uncertainties in the Mediterranean

The steady increase in the number of elderly people in the population, induced by factors that embody human progress (reduced mortality, tendential improvement in living standards and lifestyles, etc.) has become over the years an important issue in the organisation of contemporary societies, as regards retirement or health, for example. With different intensities and with different historical calendars, all societies are concerned by this.

An improved microsatellite panel to assess genetic variability of the Italian smooth newt (Lissotriton vulgaris meridionalis)

Habitat loss and fragmentation are threatening amphibians by increasing population isolation. However, artificial waterbodies created for livestockmay contrast this phenomenon by providing surrogate habitats for amphibians. Here, we performed a genetic study on an amphibian species, Lissotriton vulgaris meridionalis, in a rural area in central Italy where natural wetlands are disappearing and drinking troughs for cattle watering are widespread.
