Prognostic value of p16 protein in patients with surgically treated non-small cell lung cancer; Relationship with Ki-67 and PD-L1

Background/Aim: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the leading cause of cancer death. Patients eligible for surgery have better overall survival rate than patients who are not eligible. We investigated the prognostic value of p16 in patients who underwent surgery for lung cancer, in association with other factors such as PD-L1 and Ki-67. Materials and Methods: Expression of p16 was evaluated along with the presence of Ki-67 and PD-L1 in 256 NSCLC patients treated only surgically.

Circulating adrenomedullin estimates survival and reversibility of organ failure in sepsis: the prospective observational multinational Adrenomedullin and Outcome in Sepsis and Septic Shock-1 (AdrenOSS-1) study

Background: Adrenomedullin (ADM) regulates vascular tone and endothelial permeability during sepsis. Levels of circulating biologically active ADM (bio-ADM) show an inverse relationship with blood pressure and a direct relationship with vasopressor requirement.

Secondary malignant neoplasms, progression-free survival and overall survival in patients treated for Hodgkin lymphoma: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials

.Treatment intensification to maximize disease control and reduced intensity approaches to minimize the risk of late sequelae have been evaluated in newly diagnosed Hodgkin lymphoma. The influence of these interventions on the risk of secondary malignant neoplasms, progression-free survival and overall survival is reported in the meta-analysis herein, based on individual patient data from 9498 patients treated within 16 randomized controlled trials for newly diagnosed Hodgkin lymphoma between 1984 and 2007.

Apalutamide treatment and metastasis-free survival in prostate cancer

BACKGROUND Apalutamide, a competitive inhibitor of the androgen receptor, is under development for the treatment of prostate cancer. We evaluated the efficacy of apalutamide in men with nonmetastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer who were at high risk for the development of metastasis. METHODS We conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial involving men with nonmetastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and a prostate-specific antigen doubling time of 10 months or less.
