General health & psychological distress in children with temporomandibular disorder

INTRODUCTION: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are an heterogeneous group of disorders affecting temporomandibular joints (TMJ), masticatory muscles, or both. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between general health and psychological distress variables and the clinical diagnosis of TMD in children between 8 - 13 years old. Moreover, it will be underlined the different perception of psychological distress existing between patients and their parents.

Parents and Children During the COVID-19 Lockdown: The Influence of Parenting Distress and Parenting Self-Efficacy on Children’s Emotional Well-Being

On March 10, 2020, Italy went into lockdown due to the Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic. The World Health Organization highlighted how the lockdown had negative consequences on psychological well-being, especially for children. The present study aimed to investigate parental correlates of children’s emotion regulation during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Psychological Distress in Patients with Autoimmune Arthritis during the COVID-19 Induced Lockdown in Italy

Lockdowns imposed by governments worldwide as a way to limit the spread of severe atypical respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV2) have had heavy psychological and economic consequences. Arthritis patients are a vulnerable population at an increased risk of peritraumatic stress. This could be due to several reasons, including the fear of shortage of medicine and difficulty receiving periodical medical checks. In the present case-control study, psychological distress in patients with autoimmune arthritis during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic were investigated.

Homesickness experience, distress and sleep quality of first-year University students dealing with academic environment

The literature shows that homesickness can have a negative impact on different areas of psychological functioning such as cognitive, emotional, behavioral, physical and social ones. The study, conducted on a sample of first-year university students, aimed to test a model hypothesizing that two distinct dimensions of homesickness, attachment to home and disliking university, could have both direct and indirect effects on their psychological distress and sleep difficulties.

Background:
The effects of having a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on parents are multifaceted and pervasive. While ample
evidence has been provided that these families are under severe stress, there are still several knowledge gaps and unresolved
questions.
Objective:
This study aimed at quantifying the subjective and objective burden of ASD in mothers and fathers, and at improving the
understanding of the interplay between parental burden, child’s characteristics, and parents’ coping resources and strategies.

Psychological impact of different primary treatments for prostate cancer. a critical analysis

Limited attention has been given to the psychological impact of primary treatments in patients with prostate cancer. Aim of our analysis was to critically analyse the current evidence on the psychological impact of different primary treatments (surgery, radiotherapy and active surveillance), in patients with prostate cancer, using validated questionnaires.
