Search for new phenomena in final states with large jet multiplicities and missing transverse momentum using $$ sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV proton-proton collisions recorded by ATLAS in Run 2 of the LHC

Results of a search for new particles decaying into eight or more jets and moderate missing transverse momentum are presented. The analysis uses 139 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider between 2015 and 2018. The selection rejects events containing isolated electrons or muons, and makes requirements according to the number of b-tagged jets and the scalar sum of masses of large-radius jets.

Precision measurement of the Ξcc++ mass

A measurement of the ++ mass is performed using data collected by the LHCb experiment between 2016 and 2018 in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.6 fb−1. The ++ candidates are reconstructed via the decay modes ++→+−++ and ++→++. The result, 3621.55 ± 0.23 (stat) ± 0.30 (syst) MeV/c2, is the most precise measurement of the ++ mass to date.

Measurement of Antiproton Production in p-He Collisions at sNN =110 GeV

The cross section for prompt antiproton production in collisions of protons with an energy of 6.5 TeV incident on helium nuclei at rest is measured with the LHCb experiment from a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.5 nb-1. The target is provided by injecting helium gas into the LHC beam line at the LHCb interaction point.

Evidence for an ηc(1 S) π- resonance in B0→ ηc(1 S) K+π- decays

A Dalitz plot analysis of B0→ηc(1S)K+π- decays is performed using data samples of pp collisions collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of s=7,8 and 13TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 4.7fb-1. A satisfactory description of the data is obtained when including a contribution representing an exotic ηc(1 S) π- resonant state. The significance of this exotic resonance is more than three standard deviations, while its mass and width are 4096±20-22+18MeV and 152±58-35+60MeV, respectively.

Measurement of the relative B- →d0 /D∗0 /D∗∗0μ- ν μ branching fractions using B- mesons from B s2∗0 decays

The decay of the narrow resonance Bs2∗0→B-K+ can be used to determine the B- momentum in partially reconstructed decays without any assumptions on the decay products of the B- meson. This technique is employed for the first time to distinguish contributions from D0, D∗0, and higher-mass charmed states (D∗∗0) in semileptonic B- decays by using the missing-mass distribution. The measurement is performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb-1 collected with the LHCb detector in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV.

Search for CP Violation in Ds+ → KS0 π+, D+ → KS0 K+, and D+ →φπ+ Decays

A search for charge-parity (CP) violation in Cabibbo-suppressed Ds+→KS0π+, D+→KS0K+, and D+→φπ+ decays is reported using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.8 fb-1, collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the LHCb detector. High-yield samples of kinematically and topologically similar Cabibbo-favored D(s)+ decays are analyzed to subtract nuisance asymmetries due to production and detection effects, including those induced by CP violation in the neutral kaon system.

Observation of an Excited Bc+ State

Using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.5 fb-1 recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of s=7, 8, and 13 TeV, the observation of an excited Bc+ state in the Bc+π+π- invariant-mass spectrum is reported. The observed peak has a mass of 6841.2±0.6(stat)±0.1(syst)±0.8(Bc+) MeV/c2, where the last uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the Bc+ mass. It is consistent with expectations of the Bc∗(2S31)+ state reconstructed without the low-energy photon from the Bc∗(1S31)+→Bc+γ decay following Bc∗(2S31)+→Bc∗(1S31)+π+π-.

Measurement of forward top pair production in the dilepton channel in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV

Forward top quark pair production is studied in pp collisions in the μeb final state using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.93 fb−1 collected with the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The cross-section is measured in a fiducial region where both leptons have a transverse momentum greater than 20 GeV and a pseudorapidity between 2.0 and 4.5. The quadrature sum of the azimuthal separation and the difference in pseudorapidities, denoted ΔR, between the two leptons must be larger than 0.1.

Search for weakly decaying b -flavored pentaquarks

Investigations of the existence of pentaquark states containing a single b (anti)quark decaying weakly into four specific final states J/?K+?-p, J/?K-?-p, J/?K-?+p, and J/??(1020)p are reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb-1 in 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions acquired with the LHCb detector. Signals are not observed and upper limits are set on the product of the production cross section times branching fraction with respect to that of the ?b0.
