Runway veer‐off risk analysis. An international airport case study

Runway excursions are the main risk for runway safety: operational protection areas mitigate the effects of events classified as veer‐off, overrun, and undershoot. This paper presents a methodology for the quantitative risk assessment of runway veer‐off in an international airport whose name will not be revealed for privacy reasons. The proposed methodology is based on similar principles adopted in other aviation risk analyses.

Preventive planning model for rescue priority management in seismic emergency

Natural materials, such as soils, are influenced by many factors acting during their formative and evolutionary process: atmospheric agents, erosion and transport phenomena, sedimentation conditions that give soil properties a non-reducible randomness by using sophisticated survey techniques and technologies. This character is reflected not only in spatial variability of properties which differs from point to point, but also in multivariate correlation as a function of reciprocal distance.

Vulnerability assessment and quantitative risk analysis of road infrastructure

The complex system of road infrastructures of a country plays a fundamental role both on the economy and on the development of the territory and on the management of accident scenarios that occur as a result of natural disasters. It is therefore essential to assess the vulnerability of the infrastructural network to natural and man-made risk factors in order to identify any critical issues and plan improvements and upgrades to the infrastructure.
