One-year effectiveness, retention rate, and safety of secukinumab in ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis. a real-life multicenter study

Background: Secukinumab (SEC) is effective for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in randomized trials, but real-life data are lacking.Research design and methods: Real-life, prospective observational study on 169 consecutive outpatients at baseline (T0) and at 6 (T6) and 12 months (T12) after starting SEC (39 AS, 23%; 130 PsA, 77%).Results: Significant improvement was seen at T6 and T12 for all clinical variables, including TJC, SJC, ESR, CRP, DAPSA, ASDAS-CRP, and BASDAI, as well as in patient-reported outcomes like VAS-pain.

Factors reducing omalizumab response in severe asthma

Background: Despite adding Omalizumab to conventional therapy, several severe asthmatics still show poor disease control. We investigated the factors that may affect a reduced Omalizumab response in a large population of severe asthmatics. Methods: 340 patients were retrospectively evaluated. FEV1%, FVC%, Asthma Control Test (ACT), fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FENO), possible step-downs/step-ups of concomitant therapies, exacerbations, disease control levels, ICS doses and SABA use, observed at the end of treatment, were considered as a response to Omalizumab.

Real-life Mepolizumab effectiveness in severe eosinophilic asthmatics with nasal polyposis

Nasal polyposis (NP) is a chronic paranasal sinuses inflamma-tory disease causing severe nasal and systemic symptoms includingfatigue, sleeping problems, and impairments in social, emotionaland lifestyle conditions. Patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA) have frequent comorbid NP, which may impact asthma severity.

Mepolizumab effectiveness on small airway obstruction, corticosteroid sparing and maintenance therapy step-down in real life

BACKGROUND:
Mepolizumab (MEP) has been recently introduced to treat severe eosinophilic asthma. Trials have demonstrated a significant effectiveness in this asthma phenotype. We evaluated MEP efficacy on lung function, symptoms, asthma exacerbations, biologic markers, steroid dependence and controller treatment level in real-life.
METHODS:
We retrospectively analyzed 134 severe asthmatics (61 males; mean age 58.3 ± 11; mean FEV1%:72 ± 21), treated with MEP for at least 6 months (mean duration:10.9 ± 3.7 months).
RESULTS:

Real word outcomes associated with use of raltegravir in older people living with HIV: results from the 60 months follow-up of the RAL-age cohort

Objective: In people living with HIV (PLWH), antiretroviral treatments have increased the median life expectancy. Raltegravir (RAL) represents a long-term safe regimen used both in the first-line antiretroviral treatments and in the optimization strategies. Aim of the study was to evaluate the real-life efficacy, tolerability, and safety of the long-term RAL use in a multicenter cohort of elderly PLWH.Methods: A 60-month follow-up observational study was carried out in the RAL-AGE Cohort including aged PLWH (≥60 years old) treated with RAL-based regimens (n = 96).
