Market competition and parental background wage premium. The role of human and relational capital

The literature on intergenerational inequality has not inquired so far the role that market competition can play in the intergenerational transmission process. In this article we assess this role from both an empirical and a theoretical perspective. From the empirical side, using a panel dataset on Italian workers, we find that the parental background wage premium significantly decreases when sector competition increases.

Relational capital and knowledge transfer in universities

Purpose – The importance of relational capital for the university has grown enormously in recent years.
In fact, relational capital allows universities to promote and emphasize the effectiveness of the third mission.
The purpose of this paper is to propose a case study involving an Italian university that recently set up a new
research observatory, and, thanks to its success, succeeded in enhancing its relational capital.

Women entrepreneurship in the light of relational capital: general insights

Starting from the assumption that women entrepreneurs are relevant developers of the corporate business in small and microenterprises, the main purpose of this chapter is to propose a literature analysis discovering how relational capital influences to the first stage of women enterprises. Thus, a literature searches on Scopus has been conducted to expand the international literature on the connection between gender studies and relational capital as significant intangible assets. In this way, evidence proposed are directed to understand the debate on gender and relational capital.

A relational capital perspective on social sustainability. The case of female entrepreneurship in Italy

Purpose: Female entrepreneurship has been part of the political agenda internationally. Public entities should promote entrepreneurship in general, and female entrepreneurship in particular, with dedicated resources and programs. Female entrepreneurs are considered as a key asset in developing economic growth. However, women experience much more difficulties in opening their own ventures. Relational capital is particularly relevant when it comes to female entrepreneurship.

Women enterprises, relational capital and corporate strategy: a multiple case study

This paper aims at analysing how relational capital (RC) contributes to the born of women enterprises in Italian small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In this way, this research is supported by a qualitative research methodology using a multiple case study (Yin 2009) comparing a small female enterprise and a small man enterprise to point out their characteristics and differences. Thus, the paper applies the CAOS model of micro-entrepreneurship by Paoloni (2011).

Wellbeing of women entrepreneurship and relational capital. A case study in Italy

Relational capital is a critical asset in the Knowledge Economy. It refers to the sum of relations an entrepreneur establishes with the external environment and stakeholders aimed to generate business value. Relational capital is particularly relevant for start-ups and for women entrepreneurs. This chapter analyzes the role of relational capital in women in entrepreneurship based on a start-up case associated with a regional Imprendero program to support entrepreneurs during 2011-2012 that coincide with the financial crisis.

Relational capitai and crowdfunding. An ltalian woman startup case study

Crowdfunding is a new channel of finance for companies, focusing on gender studies one of the main causes of the failure of ternale enterprise development are under-capitalization and the barrier to credit access. In this way, some intangible factors, as relational capitai, can play a relevant role to connect the woman entrepreneur by new stakeholders, like crowd-funders, and overcome the barriers. For these reasons, the aim of this paper is to analyse if relational capitai (RC) can help the woman start-up (WSU) to fundraise during the early stage.
