BACKGROUND: Esophageal cancer is the ninth most common cancer. The only potentially curative treatment is surgical resection, which unfortunately is still associated with major complications, the most important being anastomotic leakage, currently with an overall rate of up to 26% morbidity. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the relationship between anastomotic leakage and recurrence of disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A literature search was systematically performed. Seven out of 312 articles dated between 2009 and 2018 fulfilled the selection for a total of 5,433 patients.

BACKGROUND/AIM:
Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) is the second most common benign tumor of the liver. As of 2017, many clinical, radiological and surgical features have been largely documented. On the other hand, little is still known about the correlation of FNH with hepatocellular carcinoma, nor the preferable modality of treatment. Our aim was to elucidate the latter topic.

The clinical significance of two major aspects of perfectionism, perfectionistic strivings (PS) and perfectionistic concerns (PC), in eating disorders (EDs) symptoms was well-established among adults. However, no systematic review has assessed evidence examining associations between both unidimensional and multidimensional perfectionism and EDs in early and middle adolescence. For this aim, three online databases (PsycINFO, Medline and PsycArticle) were searched for articles published until January 2019, and observational studies were considered.

The separation of enantiomers has been started in the past and continues to be a topic of great interest in various fields of research, mainly because these compounds could be involved in biological processes such as, for example, those related to human health. Great attention has been devoted to studies for the analysis of enantiomers present in food products in order to assess authenticity and safety.

Cholesterol granuloma (CG) is a rare condition histological consisting of a foreign body, giant cell reaction to cholesterol crystals and haemosiderin derived from the ruptured of the erythrocytes. A 25-year-old man came to our Department presenting signs and symptoms of tympano-mastoid cholesterol granuloma. He showed all the specific sign and symptoms of the disease. However, considering the lack of literature regarding TMCG, this study was performed with the aim of presenting the main characteristics of tympano-mastoid CG, describing the case report and reviewing the literature.

Questo manoscritto di revisione presenta informazioni effettive sulle strutture sportive, sulla loro progettazione e sull'impatto che potrebbero avere sulla salute umana. Sulla base delle attuali norme e regolamenti sanitari e igienici, gli autori descrivono i tipi di impianti sportivi, danno la loro classificazione in base all'uso designato, sottolineano le peculiarità della sistemazione degli impianti sportivi in ​​Italia e Russia. Particolare attenzione è rivolta alla necessità di soddisfare i requisiti igienici durante la costruzione e la manutenzione di impianti sportivi.

Non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSC) represent the most common skin tumours of the head region. We describe the use of dermal substitute in a 2-stage surgery protocol for selected fragile patients to remove NMSC of the head region. A review of the literature focusing on dermal substitutes' safety after skin tumours excision is provided. A total of 45 fragile patients with NMSC in the head region were selected and scheduled for the 2-stage surgical protocol.
