Sea Level Rise and Coastal Impacts: Innovation and Improvement of the Local Urban Plan for a Climate-Proof Adaptation Strategy
In recent years, the territorial impacts connected to sea level rise have prompted a reflection on the responsibilities of policy makers in transposing these issues into urban agendas. The need also emerged to both broaden and update the skills of urban planners and to improve territorial governance tools, with the aim of developing feasible regeneration and resilience strategies to face climate change.
Latest clinical recommendations on valproate use for migraine prophylaxis in women of childbearing age. Overview from European Medicines Agency and European Headache Federation
Migraine is a common and burdensome neurological condition which affects mainly female patients during their childbearing years. Valproate has been widely used for the prophylaxis of migraine attacks and is also included in the main European Guidelines. Previous (2014) European recommendations on limiting the use of valproate in women of childbearing age did not achieve their objective in terms of limiting the use of valproate in women of childbearing age and raising awareness regarding the hazardous effect of valproate to children exposed in utero.
Performance of a far-field historical church during the 2016-2017 Central Italy earthquakes
Churches are an essential part of the historical and architectural heritage of several countries, and various earthquakes have highlighted the significant seismic vulnerability of ancient religious buildings. On August 24, 2016, a seismic sequence started in Central Italy with a magnitude 6.0 event. Nine events with magnitude ≥ 5.0 occurred between that date and January 18, 2017.
P-02-75 EFFECTS ON SEXUAL RESPONSE AND MOTIVATIONS IN ENGAGING IN CHEMSEX ACTIVITIES IN A GROUP OF MEN WHO HAVE SEX WITH MEN (MSM)
Objectives: Chemsex is referred to illicit drugs use (GHB/GBL, methamphetamine, and mephedrone) to enhance the sexual activity in Men who
have Sex with Men (MSM). Most studies focused on the health risks
associated to chemsex, while less attention was paid on the effects on sexual
response and motivations to engage in this behavior. The current study aims
to investigate how drugs used in chemsex might affect the sexual activity and
which are the motivations encouraging men to use them.
P-02-73 Chemsex in Italy: Peculiarities and Experiences of Men Who Have Sex With Men (MSM) Consuming Illicit Drugs to Enhance and Prolong Their Sexual Activity
Chemsex is a novel phenomenon referred to illicit drugs consumption to facilitate, enhance and prolong the sexual experience in Men who have Sex with Men (MSM). Since 2012, Chemsex quickly became identified in big cities and sex-on-premise venues giving rise to a transdisciplinary attention due to the related public health risks. The present study aims to investigate the contexts, the patterns of substance use and the first chemsex experience in a group of Italian MSM practicing chemsex.
Hormone replacement therapy after prophylactic risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy and breast cancer risk in BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers: a meta-analysis
Background: Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has been tested in women with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations who underwent risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO), but its effect on breast cancer (BC) risk has never been appraised using meta-analysis comparison. We performed the first meta-analysis aimed to clarify whether HRT after RRSO could negatively impact on BC risk in women carriers of BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. Methods and material: Pubmed and Scopus databases were searched to retrieve articles written in the English language.
GEN-IV LFR development: Status & perspectives
Since Lead-cooled Fast Reactors (LFR) have been conceptualized in the frame of Generation IV International Forum (GIF), great interest has focused on the development and testing of new technologies related to Heavy Liquid Metal (HLM) nuclear reactors. In this frame, ENEA developed one of the larger European experimental fleet of experimental facilities aiming at investigating HLM thermal-hydraulics, coolant chemistry control, corrosion behavior for structural materials, and at developing components, instrumentations and innovative systems, supported by experiments and numerical tools.
Dynamics of individual income rank volatility. Evidence from West Germany and the US
This paper presents a methodology for comparing income rank volatility profiles over time and across distributions.
While most of the existing measures are affected by changes in marginal distributions, this paper
proposes a framework based on individuals’ relative positions in the distribution that is neutral to structural
changes that occur in that distribution. Applying this approach to West Germany and the US over three decades,
we show that while poorer individuals in both countries are the most volatile in all periods investigated, the
Label-free shotgun proteomics approach to characterize muscle tissue from farmed and wild european sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)
Sea bass represents one of the main fish products in the market. Most of it comes from farming and is bred in different conditons with respect to the wild fish. Differences may thus be expected. In this study, a proteomic profile of farmed and wild sea bass samples was performed, employing a fractionation strategy where peptide samples were first separated by 2D chromatography. The peptides were finally analyzed by shotgun proteomics workflow combined to tandem MS.
