risk perception

Associations of risk perception of COVID-19 with emotion and mental health during the pandemic.

Background: Although there are increasing concerns on mental health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, no large-scale population-based studies have examined the associations of risk perception of COVID-19 with emotion and subsequent mental health. Methods: This study analysed cross-sectional and longitudinal data from the PsyCorona Survey that included 54,845 participants from 112 countries, of which 23,278 participants are representative samples of 24 countries in terms of gender and age.

Social Representations; brand identity; brand image; destination@-branding; European Capitals.

As part of the wider research program initiated by de Rosa in the 1980s (cfr inter alia: de Rosa,

Representations of European Capitals in First Visitors of Six Different Nationalities”, this
contribution is included in the "field studies", with particular reference to the data collection carried

The case study of Paris in an increasingly uncertain Europe.

This contribution is part of a wider on-going research program initiated by de Rosa in the 1980s, inspired by
the paradigm of social representations and applying the “modelling approach”. The objectives of this
contribution are: to study the system of attribution of meanings to the different spatial dimensions of
"underground" and "over-ground" Paris; to analyse the differences in the social representations of 50
professional drivers in surface transport (trams, buses, taxis) and in subsoil (underground, RER). We expected

The better the bond, the better we cope. The effects of place attachment intensity and place attachment styles on the link between perception of risk and emotional and behavioral coping

The general aim is to advance the understanding of the role of both place attachment intensity and place attachment styles for adaptive coping strategies with flood risk. Place attachment styles are operationalized as secure, preoccupied, and fearful-avoidant. Risk coping strategies are conceptualized as emotional (i.e., distress), and behavioral coping strategies (i.e., positive, negative, and avoidant). Two main cross-sectional studies were conducted in both high and low-risk areas: one study in Italy (N = 100) and one study in Romania (N = 391).

Loving, leaving, living: evacuation site place attachment predicts natural hazard coping behavior

Almost all the studies about place attachment in environmental risk contexts only consider the role of place attachment to home or local area. However, especially when it comes to risks requiring evacuation from home and local area, it is likely that place attachment to evacuation sites, if any, becomes relevant too. The present studies intend to understand how place attachment to evacuation sites affects coping behaviors in natural hazard contexts.

Risk Perception and Media in Shaping Protective Behaviors: Insights From the Early Phase of COVID-19 Italian Outbreak

In the absence of target treatments or vaccination, the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic can be impeded by effectively implementing containment measures and behaviors. This relies on individuals’ adoption of protective behaviors, their perceived risk, and the use and trust of information sources. During a health emergency, receiving timely and accurate information enables individuals to take appropriate actions to protect themselves, shaping their risk perception. Italy was the first western country plagued by COVID-19 and one of the most affected in the early phase.

Psychological and Emotional Impact of Patients Living in Psychiatric Treatment Communities during Covid-19 Lockdown in Italy

Most studies on wellbeing during the COVID19 pandemic have focused on the mental health of the general population; far less attention has been given to more specific populations, such as patients with mental illness. Indeed, it is important to examine the psychiatric population, given its vulnerability. The present study aimed at assessing the psychological and emotional impact of isolation on patients in Residential Rehabilitation Communities, compared to healthy controls.

Driving attitudes, behaviours, risk perception and risk concern among young student car-drivers, motorcyclists and pedestrians in various EU countries

The number of car crashes has gradually reduced in the last decade across all European Countries, but the number of motorcycle crashes has remained nearly the same. In our research we investigate whether there are differences in attitudes towards road safety issues, driving behaviours in specific imagined situations, risk perception and risk concern, among young student drivers and riders. The study involved a large sample taken from across six European countries.

The condom use among young adults and its determinants. An Italian study

Numerous health risk behaviours have been identified as an issue in early adulthood, especially among university students, a particularly high-risk category for sexual and reproductive health. The aim of this study is to examine the condom use and its determinants among young adult in Italy. The hypothesis is that individuals’ demographic characteristics (gender, faculty, to have a committed partner, to be resident) and the risk perception may play a role in condom use.
