Advances in hypercomplex adaptive filtering for 3D audio processing

3-dimensional (3D) audio is the new frontier in audio technology and it is quickly taking place in many applications, from cinema to virtual reality, audio surveillance and video games. The large amount of data requires fast and compact solutions for signal processing. With this aim in view, research is moving towards the exploration of hypercomplex algebras in order to find a non-redundant and compact form for the representation of 3D audio sound fields without the loss of information.

Portable system for practical permittivity measurements improved by homomorphic deconvolution

This paper presents a versatile low-cost procedure for complex permittivity measurements of liquids from 400 MHz to 5 GHz. Our procedure uses handheld instrumentation and custom software for data acquisition and postprocessing. The purpose is to replace the benchtop vector network analyzer (VNA) generally used in such applications with a portable and cheaper handheld spectrum analyzer used in the VNA mode.

Qoe-aware UAV flight path design for mobile video streaming in HetNet

In this paper, we address the problem of devising a Quality of Experience (QoE) aware flight plan for UAV mounted Base Station within heterogeneous networks. Specifically, we propose a QoE aware flight planning algorithm leveraging the well established Q-learning approach and introducing a reward related to relevant QoE metrics. Numerical simulation results show the effectiveness of the QoE-aware learning algorithm to devise a flight path such that the UAVs mounted Base Station actually improves the QoE of the heterogeneous network users.
