Sleeve gastrectomy

Complications after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: can we approach a 0% rate using the largest staple height with reinforcement all along the staple line? short-term results and technical considerations

Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is gaining acceptance among bariatric surgeons as a viable option for treating morbidly obese patients. We describe the results of a single center's experience with SG, revealing a low complication rate. Objectives: The aim of the study was to analyze the short-term results of laparoscopic SG using exclusively black staples with staple-line reinforcement. Settings: University hospital, tertiary referral center for bariatric surgery. Methods: SG was performed in 434 consecutive patients from December 2014 to March 2017.

Management of surgical complications of previous bariatric surgery in pregnant women. A systematic review from the BARIA-MAT Study Group

Considering the large and increasing population of women of childbearing age with history of bariatric surgery, surgical complications of bariatric surgery during pregnancy may become more frequent in the future. The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical presentation, diagnostic procedures, and treatment of surgical complications of bariatric surgery during pregnancies.

Laparoscopic Roux-En-Y Fistulo-Jejunostomy, a Preferred Technique after Failure of Endoscopic and Radiologic Management of Fistula Post Sleeve Gastrectomy

Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy represents the most performed bariatric procedure in France. Staple line leak is the major short-term complication of the procedure. Patients with persistent fistula after sleeve gastrectomy, after failure of endoscopic and radiological treatment, are candidates for salvage surgery. Laparoscopic fistulo-jejunostomy (LRYFJ) represents a surgical option to treat persistent fistula post sleeve. Methods: The case of a 46-year-old woman, with persistent fistula after sleeve gastrectomy, undergoing laparoscopic fistula-jejunostomy is presented.

Laparoscopic conversion of sleeve gastrectomy to one anastomosis gastric bypass for weight loss failure. Mid-term results

Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (SG) became the most performed surgical intervention for treating population with morbid obesity. However, revisional surgery after SG has been increasingly performed due to weight loss failure. We describe the results of a single surgeon’s experience with conversion of SG to one anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) in patients with previous SG and weight loss failure. The aim of the study is to analyze the short- and mid-term results of conversion of SG to OAGB for failure of weight loss.
