The book reconstructs the complex history of the cosmopolitan ideal from the great laboratory of the classical philosophy to the 18th century debate, in which the ideal of world citizenship took for the first time the concrete socio-political meaning that still dominates the reflection about the new order of globalization.
The chapter attempts to demonstrate that regional human rights instruments oriented to cultural relativism do not allow African and Asian States to derogate from the ‘universal’ obligations on freedom of religion enshrined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), to the extent that they are parties thereto.

The contribution shows how in the School of Warburg the main trend was Universalism. West and East meet each other in Humanism. The roots of European Culture lie in the age of the first centuries of Christian civilization when different cultures and religions had the occasion to have tight relationship betweern them.
This paper aims to investigate the definition of knowledge society critically. The analysis pays attention to the relationship between change of social structure and the shift from fordist and keynesian regulation to neoliberalism. This kind of analysis leads to identify the ambivalent role of razionalization and intel-lectualization in modern societies, especially with regard to the spreading of knowledge workers.

Il contributo analizza le intenzioni di voto alla luce del mondo valoriale degli intervistati, indagando la posizione occupata dai valori rispetto alla condizione sociale, all'elaborazione delle visioni del mondo e alle scelte politiche.
Il libro tratta del rapporto tra condizione sociale, livello di istruzione e visione del mondo, evidenziando il ruolo ambivalente della formazione universitaria rispetto all'elaborazione di una concezione universalista
