The contribution of religiosity to ideology. Empirical evidences from five continents

The current study examines the extent to which religiosity account for ideological orientations in 16 countries from five continents (Australia, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Greece, Finland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States). Results showed that religiosity was consistently related to right and conservative ideologies in all countries, except Australia. This relation held across different religions, and did not vary across participant’s demographic conditions (i.e., gender, age, income, and education).

The Value of the EU International Values

This chapter focuses on the nature and effect of the values and principles enshrined in Articles 3(5) and 21 TEU, which set out the objectives and limits of the EU’s external action. It begins with some introductory remarks highlighting the constitutional significance of international values aimed at giving guidance to the conduct of the EU foreign relations power. The second part explores the tendency of the CJEU to use these values and principles as a means of enlarging the functional scope of the EU competences.

Al di là dello sviluppo sostenibile. La dilatazione dei confini epistemologici della sociologia per mezzo della peace research

The theme of sustainable development is an extremely interdisciplinary field of research where biological, engineering, political, economic and social studies are reconnected in a future-oriented cognitive proposal. The aim of this intellectual effort is to give proper attention to the link between peace economics and sustainable development.

Measuring automatic value orientations. The Achievement-Benevolence Implicit Association Test

The construct and criterion validity of an Implicit Association Test designed to rate the importance ascribed to Achievement–Benevolence oriented goals (AB-IAT) according to Schwartz's model were investigated. In a first study (N = 113), the AB-IAT and three other value-IATs (Power–Universalism, Security–Self-direction, and Tradition–Stimulation) were administered along with the corresponding self-report scales.

Validation of the Italian version of the Portrait Values Questionnaire-Revised (PVQ-R) [Un contributo alla validazione italiana del Portrait Values questionnaire-revised (PVQ-R)]

Double-beta decay of 130Te to the first 0 + excited state of 130Xe with CUORE-0

We report on a search for double beta decay of 130Te to the first 0+ excited state of 130Xe using a 9.8 kg center dot yr exposure of 130Te collected with the CUORE-0 experiment. In this work we exploit different topologies of coincident events to search for both the neutrinoless and two-neutrino double beta decay modes. We find no evidence for either mode and place lower bounds on the half-lives: T01+0 nu>7.9 center dot 1023yr and T01+2 nu>2.4 center dot 1023yr (90%CL).

Developing multiscale and integrative nature–people scenarios using the Nature Futures Framework

1. Scientists have repeatedly argued that transformative, multiscale global scenarios
are needed as tools in the quest to halt the decline of biodiversity and achieve
sustainability goals.
2. As a first step towards achieving this, the researchers who participated in the
scenarios and models expert group of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy
Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) entered into an iterative,
participatory process that led to the development of the Nature Futures Framework
(NFF).

Co-designing for common values: creating hybrid spaces to nurture autonomous cooperation

The paper concerns the development of digitally-mediated technologies that value social cooperation as a common good rather than as a source of revenue and accumulation. The paper discusses the activities that shaped a European participatory design project which aims to develop a digital space that promotes and facilitates the ‘Commonfare’, a complementary approach to social welfare.
