The Flourish Research Laboratory focuses on studying psychological factors that contribute to individuals' ability to cope with different life and interpersonal contexts and to psychological and subjective well-being. The Lab also investigates psychopathological processes and dysfunctional individual traits that may lead to pathological functioning and the onset of mental disorders. The Lab strongly believes in having a comprehensive and integrated approach to mental health that considers the importance of reducing vulnerability factors, increasing positive individual functioning, promoting personal resources and strengths, and proposing early intervention based on promotion and prevention strategies.
The Flourish Research Laboratory primarily conducts ecological and experimental research with a solid practical approach. Indeed, the ultimate mission of the Lab is to develop evidence-based interventions to help individuals flourish, meaning to find fulfillment in their lives by engaging in meaningful tasks, experiencing positive emotions, and deepening their connections with others. Moreover, the Lab promotes utilizing new technological delivery systems to disseminate these psychological interventions.
The Flourish Research Laboratory integrates evidence, techniques, and theoretical models derived from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), especially third-wave CBT models (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Self-Compassion Therapy), with Positive Psychology models.
