Abstract:

As the lack of academic literature is still stronger in the PM field, sustainability in project management is a very new topic, especially the relationship between PM and sustainability.
The research aims to increase the knowledge about project sustainability management (PSM). Firstly by studying the existing literature on PM, sustainability and the new concept of project sustainability management, which is starting to be addressed by some authors. Then best practices and results from the field will be collected by a survey, which will be spread among companies and firms who deal with projects.
Thanks to this approach survey-based, it will be possible to investigate the relation between project sustainability management and project success, as well as the implementing directions that PSM is taking in the real world.

Innovatività:

There is a still being built bridge between project managers and sustainability, this means that even if the attention and the studies around this field have growth, the challenge is still open and a missing link for the integration of sustainability is still present (Carvalho & Rabecchi, 2017).
What seems to limit to get an overall result and vision is the lack of a large number of managers involved in these studies and, moreover, who¿s involved is particularly focused on scientific field and he represents a restricted national area. Basically, all the information and practical tips are quite interesting and useful, the fact is that for future studies could be interesting enhance the interests and enlarge country fences, comparing different ideas altogether from different countries point of view and, moreover, from different working field.
The interest on the environment and its sustainability practice development it is mainly driven by the fact that, besides the sustainability interest and sustainability indicator need, there are several environmental indicators given from technical and government rules which help in involving sustainability practices within a project.
Besides the environmental sustainability, there are other perspectives on sustainability in project management which are not as developed as the environmental one. Social, Financial, Economic and ethic sustainability perspectives still need to be observed and studied from a practical point of view, this with the objective of developing tools, practice and key indicator on which develop solid sustainability practice and apply them in the context of project management.
