The calculation of the stored waste volume is a necessary operation for the proper management of landfll. The waste in input in the landfll are subjected, for legislation, to weighting; in practice, people use the conversion factors from tons to cubic meters to derive the residual volumetric capacity of the landfll. It is therefore very important to correctly estimate these coeffcients in order to correctly determine the residual volume than had been approved. In this study, specifcally, was estimated the value of the conversion coeffcient for inert waste. The estimation is performed by comparing data from literature with the statistical analysis of moisture values of the waste deposited in a landfll for inert examined. These considerations are then compared and validated through the use of the actual values of the volumes stored in the landfll surveyed, which is calculated through topographic measurement (GIS). The results achieved provide reference values of the conversion factor (weight-volume) of inert waste, depending on the type of waste and more specifcally to its humidity, with fairly reliable and consistent values.
